“Doctors Without Borders/ Médecine Sans Frontières (MSF)”

“Silence has long been confused with neutrality, and has been presented as a necessary condition for humanitarian action. From its beginning, Doctors Without Borders/ Médecine Sans Frontières (MSF) was created in opposition to this assumption. We are not sure that words can always save lives, but we know that silence can certainly kill.”
–  Dr. James Orbinski, then-President of the MSF International Council, accepting the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of MSF in 1999.

Headlines in 2014 were dominated by stories of strife & suffering, social injustice and horrifying outbreaks of disease (most notably Ebola). Yet out of these human tragedies often emerged stories of compassion, sacrifice and people coming together to challenge inequities and transcend social boundaries and national borders. Such activism is exemplified with particular heroism by Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), whose physicians selflessly ignore borders, boundaries and prejudice to bring essential medical relief and support to people in need. It is with this eye toward humanitarianism and meaningful human connection that the Average Joe Photo Show will make Doctors Without Borders/ MSF the philanthropic focus for 2015.

A percentage of all photo sales from the Average Joe Photo Show, Gallery 2015 will be directed to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
