Town Dock, Stonington, Connecticut (USA)

Captain Alan Chaplaski with Neptune, the oldest vessel in the Stonington, Connecticut commercial fishing fleet at the Town Dock.

Built in 1967 by Luther Blount of Blount Marine for a commercial seafood company in Newport, Chaplaski has owned her since the early 1990s. Today, the trawler continues to head out to sea on weekly trips lasting three to four days with a crew of three or four on board. With a catch determined by seasonal regulations and fate, Neptune returns to dock laden with fluke, squid, whiting, monkfish or shrimp.
