Strawberry Wash

This photo taken with an iPhone 4 highlights the irresistible urge to grab a freshly picked strawberry as they are being washed in a bowl of water as light pours in from a nearby window. In contrast to many parts of the world, this water was easily drawn from a private well by the electric pump and flowed through the plumbing with no more effort on my part than lifting a handle on the faucet. During my times of backcountry hiking I quickly learned that water, by necessity, becomes the primary concern and needs to be planned for. Even in remote areas, modern technology allows us to filter and treat the water for health and safety concerns. Such luxury is not always available in many parts of the world where the the quest for water requires continuous effort.
